It has over 65 facilities operating in more than 16 countries. Otto Kolschowsky, a German immigrant, decided to open a family meat business in Oak Park 2 years after he arrived in the U.S.A. In the year 1917, he expanded his business into wholesale trade and relocated it to Maywood, Chicago. In 1928, he named the company Otto & Sons, which now has gained a reputation for delivering quality meat.
In 1955, the first-ever McDonald’s restaurant was opened by Ray Kroc in Des Plaines, Illinois and Otto & Sons became its supplier for fresh beef patties. When liquid nitrogen freezing method was invented in 1960, the company agreed to supply meat to McDonald’s. The company later changed its name to OSI Food Solutions in the year 1975.

General Milling Corporation, Alaska Milk Corporation and OSI partnered to establish GenOSI in 1990; a Philippines food processing industry.
